Kinta Tin Mining Museum- A Forgotten Legacy of Kampar



Kinta Tin Mining (Gravel Pump) Museum is located just beside the Petronas.

KAMPAR: Malaysia’s foremost and precious museum with rich tin legacy in this country is located in Perak where Kampar was once a very popular tin mining town.
Kinta Tin Mining (Gravel Pump) Museum is an amazing and excellent place to retrace the history of tin mining industry in Kampar since it comprises some of the apparatuses used in the tin mining process.

The museum consists of two main galleries which are basically indoor and outdoor. Many of the local miners’ mannequins are displayed outdoor together with some of the exhibits displayed at the board. As shown by the picture on the left, it is a palong filled up with water and the loose tin particles where women have to use the dulang under the sun.

There are more mannequins indoor which illustrating the action during their work and some of the models of tin mining process with clear processes and names stated beside. A variety of mineral samples are displayed in order to create an understanding of visitors about it.

The elephant was the first discovered the rich tin deposit of Kinta Valley.



It is really a very good place to visit if you want to know Malaysia’s proud history and the most important thing is that there is no entrance fee needed. It will definitely get your thumbs up as you will both have fun and learn more about the tin mining process at the same time.
